This quiet and silky smooth slider has more than the average bells and whistles designed into it. While incredibly stiff, the rail is compact and light weight, making it highly transportable to remote locations. A 1.5 inch dovetail is machined all along the top and bottom of the rail for supreme foot/mount positioning. The stud size is 3/8"-16 for mounting a head or clamp.
Integrated dovetail rails that work with all Really Right Stuff clamps
Sled wheels ride in double-v inset tracks along both sides of the rail
The inset track design helps protect from dings and dents that would hinder ultra-smooth sliding action
The VS-FT feet can be mounted directly onto the sled though integrated dovetails for minimizing size when transporting
Sled Bumper Safely and quietly stops the sled at each end of its maximum travel
Sled Slop Adjustment Nuts: Over time, and based on user preference, the sled wheels may be adjusted to mate with the rail more or less tightly
Standard 3/8"-16 threaded stud is used for attaching a multitude of industry standard tripod heads or accessories, including RRS quick-release clamps
Auxiliary Mounting Sockets along the rail can be used for attaching optional sled accessories

What else do I need?
If you will be shooting video with the VS-288 and don’t already own a fluid head, you may want to consider our FH-350 Fluid Head. The FH-350 allows for smooth horizontal and vertical panning, when combined with the VS-288 smooth 3 axis moves can be achieved to give your videos a professional quality. The FH-350 Fluid Head was designed to incorporate the highly desirable features found in larger, top tier fluid heads in a compact package better suited for smaller video camera systems like DSLRs and other similar sized units.
If you are purchasing the VS-288 video slider, you may want to consider a leveling base to allow for easy leveling when using a fluid head. Since a fluid head does not have leveling capabilities, a leveling base will allow you keep your fluid head level, even if the VS-288 is on uneven terrain or mounted on a slope. We recommend using our TA-U-LB or TA-U-LC on the VS-288 video slider.
If you would like the ability to quickly detach your tripod head from the slider you would want to consider purchasing a quick release clamp. With the 3/8"-16 threaded stud installed on the sled, you will easily be able to add a center threaded clamp like our B2-LR II to quick release any tripod head. You will also want to keep in mind that you will need a corresponding quick release plate for the bottom of your tripod head. When using our BH-55 and PG-02 you would want to select our TH-DVTL 55 plate. When using our smaller BH-40 mid size ball head, the TH-DVTL 40 will be a great match. When using our FH-350 fluid head on our VS-288 slider, you will not need to purchase an additional quick release plate since the FH-350 has an integrated dovetail machined into the bottom of the head.
